KEDO’s mission is to help young impoverished children in Juarzon District, Sinoe County, Liberia impacted by war-torn conditions escape poverty through education.
After decades of civil war and disease, Liberia is significantly behind most other African countries in nearly all education statistics. According to the Liberia Demographic and Health Survey in 2017, in rural places, 30 percent of 15 to 24-year-old men and 30 percent of 15 to 24-year-old women were illiterate. Illiteracy promotes the cycle of poverty, therefore it is KEDO’s goal to break this cycle by building schools and providing the tools necessary to give the children of Liberia a chance at a brighter future. KEDO'S vision is to eradicate illiteracy in Juarzon and surrounding communities by 2030.
Liberia also has the 5th highest maternal mortality rate in the world. Every year hundreds of women are dying in child birth. Countless women and children die and go unaccounted for in the most remote areas in Liberia.
Help us save the lives of countless women and unborn children. You can help give hope to the hopeless. Please help us build a health clinic in southeastern Liberia for some of the most vulnerable and impoverished families in the world.
Our philosophy is a bottom-up approach to participatory community engagement and development. We believe real positive change takes place at the local level on the ground and in the community.
School Construction
We built a school for vulnerable children to call their own. Providing them an adequate and safe space for them to obtain an education and grow.
Health Clinic Construction
We're currently in the midst of construction of a health clinic in order to facilitate the health needs of the community and surrounding villages.
